12th Rhododendron control and glade coppicing at Flatropers Wood, a Sussex Wildlife Trust nature reserve near Beckley.
19th Joining local volunteers at the Pett Level Preservation Society’s nature reserve at Cliff End.
26th Joining local volunteers at the Woodland Trust’s Brede High Woods (for volunteers who have registered with the Woodland Trust).
February
2nd Coppicing at Marline Wood, a Sussex Wildlife Trust nature reserve outside St Leonards, to generate timber for pathwork.
9th Pathwork at the Marline Valley Nature Reserve.
16th Joining local volunteers to manage the Pett Level Preservation Trust’s land at Cliff End.
23rd Working at the Woodland Trust’s Brede High Wood (for volunteers who have registered with the Woodland Trust).
March
2nd Some gorse and willow coppicing around the Bogs Field nature reserve at Hooe Common. Wellingtons recommended.
9th Continued glade coppicing at Flatropers Wood.
16th Working with local volunteers at the Pett Level Preservation Trust’s nature reserve at Cliff End.
23rd Another visit to Flatropers Wood, where we may be building ‘beaver dams’ along the stream.
30th Working at the Woodland Trust’s Brede High Wood (for volunteers who have registered with the Woodland Trust).

6th No event today.
13th Pathwork at Flatropers Wood, a Sussex Wildlife Trust nature reserve near Beckley, where we shall be splitting felled chestnut logs to surface a boggy path. We shall also be digging out some banks for Tiger Beetles and lizards to live on.

27th Pathwork at Powdermill Wood near Battle, using some oak logs to surface a muddy stretch of path.

18th A spring cut for parts of the meadow at the Wainwright Close nature reserve in the Churchfields Industrial Estate, St Leonards.
25th Bracken and bramble trimming in the Big Meadow at Sussex Wildlife Trust’s Marline Valley nature reserve outside St Leonards.
June
1st Bracken and bramble trimming at the Bogs Field, Hooe Common, in preparation for a survey by the Sussex Botanical Recording Society.
8th Cutting regrowth of brambles and giant horsetail around the Pine Tree Field at the Marline Valley nature reserve.

July
6th Weeding bramble and bracken growth from glades in the Big Meadow at Sussex Wildlife Trust’s Marline Valley nature reserve, outside St Leonards, and repairing a vandalised motorcycle barrier. From 2pm there will be an opportunity to join in a guided walk looking at this field’s rare flora.
13th Working at the Sussex Wildlife Trust’s Flatropers Wood nature reserve near Beckley, where cutting bracken maintains a heathland habitat in the open glades.
20th Continued heathland management at Flatropers Wood.
27th Mowing parts of the old meadow at the Wainwright Close urban nature reserve, Church Fields, St Leonards (am only).
August
3rd More bracken cutting in the heathland at Flatropers Wood.
10th Bramble control in the Big Meadow at Marline Valley.
17th Trimming bramble around the Bogs Field at Hooe Common, a nature reserve remarkable for its rare wetland flowers

7th Sallow coppicing and stream management in a swampy nature reserve at Powdermill Wood near Battle (if water levels are low enough).

5th Bramble trimming in the New Field at Sussex Wildlife Trust’s Marline Valley Nature Reserve, outside St Leonards. This may be for the morning only.
12th Cutting some encroaching sallow stems at the top entrance to the Big Meadow at Marline. This may be for the morning only.
19th Gorse coppicing and grassland cutting in the Bogs Field at Hooe Common, a nature reserve managed by the Powdermill Trust for Nature Conservation. It may be muddy.
26th Scrub coppicing around the margin of the Upper Field at Marline. This may be for the morning only.
November
2nd Coppicing and scrub-cutting around the pond at the Wainwright Close urban nature reserve at Church Fields, St Leonards.
9th Coppicing around the pond between the Big Meadow and the New Field at Marline.
16th Joining local volunteers to manage the Pett Level Preservation Trust’s land at Cliff End (10-12).
